CPI was founded in 2019 and publicly launched in 2021 after an eye-opening conversation challenged co-founder Jessica Silvey to stop simply talking about the need and take action. What began as a desire to deliver a few care packages quickly revealed a much larger gap. Jessica invited co-founder Chris Youngdale into the work, and together they began building a community around children and families navigating foster care. The idea of helping a few grew into a nonprofit supported by volunteers, donors, agencies, hospitals, law enforcement, churches, and businesses. Our first and largest program is the 48-hour care package: a new backpack filled with clothing, hygiene essentials, and age-appropriate comfort items. Each backpack is designed to meet an immediate practical need while carrying a deeper message,you are seen, valued, and not alone.
