Information we collect

We collect information you choose to provide when you subscribe, apply to volunteer, sign a participation waiver, apply to be a podcast guest, request a backpack-building event, introduce CPI to another person or organization, submit event feedback, request partner access, place a backpack request, contact us, or use another website form.

Depending on the form, this may include your name, email address, phone number, organization, event plans, funding acknowledgement, information about a proposed community connection, requested backpack sizes and quantities, need-by and fulfillment details, availability, volunteer interests, written responses, electronic signature, photo/video permission, guardian information for a minor participant, and event feedback.

Our hosting and security providers may also process basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages, and timestamps to deliver and protect the site. The private partner portal uses sign-in account information to verify that an email address is on CPI’s approved-access list.

How we use information

We use information to respond to requests; plan and coordinate backpack-building events; follow up on community introductions; approve and administer partner access; review, fulfill, and keep records of backpack requests; coordinate volunteers and events; keep participation and waiver records; review podcast guest applications; improve CPI programs; send updates when a person has opted in; maintain site security; and meet legal, accounting, or operational obligations.

When information is shared

We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us host the site, store submissions, send administrative email notifications, and operate communications. These providers may use information only to provide services to CPI. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or CPI, or as part of an organizational transaction.

When you submit a community introduction, CPI may contact the person or organization identified and may mention your name if you granted permission. Donations are processed by WGC Payments. CPI does not receive or store complete payment-card details through this Site. External services, including WGC Payments, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and the sign-in provider, have their own privacy practices.

Email updates

If you subscribe, we use your email address to send CPI news and event updates. You may unsubscribe using the link in an email or by contacting us. We may retain a limited suppression record so we can honor an unsubscribe request.

Volunteer waivers and minors

Waiver records are kept to document participation and permissions. A parent or guardian must sign for a volunteer participant under 18. This website is intended for a general audience and is not designed to collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information without appropriate permission, please contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

Retention and security

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, including program administration, event planning, follow-up, order fulfillment, waiver documentation, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and security. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information you submitted, or withdraw a communication preference, by contacting us. Some records may need to be retained where required by law or for legitimate organizational purposes.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our website and practices change. We will post the revised policy here and change the “Last updated” date.
